nisus
Hi all, I got serious problems trying to render our latest animation. The reflection in the glass displays some horrible blue that is not present in the scene ans I can't find the problem at all. I've tried to fix about everything I know that could generate the problem: Maximum Ray Depth, AA, materials with vertex colors, about all raytrace setup options,... Anyone has had this before? Anyone got a clue on how to solve this? tnx nisus
Victor Erthal
I have seen something like that a few weeks ago in a post an ther happened to me. I guess it was because of a light with negative multiplier. Maybee it works. []
nisus
Hi Victor, Indeed we have negative multiplier lights in the scene. Can you explain what happens? And what solves the problem? tnx nisus
Victor Erthal
Well, i'm sorry but i really don't know why this happens. It's one of those things in max that just happen. I saw a post here where some guy was doing an animation of sounlight and it was happening when the sun was low in the horizon, so maybe it is related to the angle the light hits the surface, but thats just a guess. Maybe in next version it will be fixed. or not... Who knows?
nisus
Tnx anyway victor. You narrowed my field to detect the faults a lot. I'll keep on searching. Anyone else? nisus
Craig Ramsay
I remember with the old versions of viz I had similar problems with glas that didnt have a UVW modifier applied to it... worth a shot? Craig
nisus
Tnx Graig. I'll definately try it! I hope it's works with ANY mapping rgds nisus
Psychoscorpic
I posted a similar problem a few weeks back. Mine was caused by using REGATHERING, and was luminous green instead of blue. No solutions posted for my question.
nisus
Hi pshy... Since we still use gold old max3.1, regathering is not an issue. I'm sorry to hear no one has replied to your post yet. (I must be doing a bad job since it's one of my tasks to keep things running here. Unfortunately I've not been around much lately, but excuses are never good...) Pls do reply something like 'Anyone?' to get your question back to attention again. Btw, a green cast can be a certain change of ambient color. We've had this problem before too, but since we use different versions the cause would probably be something else. rgds nisus
Craig Ramsay
It looks like the trees and in the reflections are causing problems... are they RPC, mapped or modeled?
Iain Denby
The only time I've had this problem was when using radiosity AND when I had over done the contrast on the material in the 'output' section in the material editor.
nisus
The shrubbery is modelled and mapped with an noise in the opacity slot. nisus
Craig Ramsay
I would try switching off the noise map and re rendering to see if that is causing the problem
nisus
Tnx Graig. I'll try all suggestions as soon as this other deadline is finished. nisus
nisus
Hi all, We had to change the RT-map into a flat mirror... A killer on memory since we use shadow mapped domespots too, but no more artifacts... *oof* rgds nisus
