Macer
Hi Guys, I've looked in to this a bit, but there seem to be several different ways of doing it. I have a small lake (soak-away) surrounded by a grassed area and I want to achieve a gentle transition from the grass to the lake bank. The lake is an odd kidney kind of shape (as you'd expect). What is the easy/most efficient way of doing this? Should I be reading up on UVW unwrap or (as it could be determined by z height - as the bank drops towards the water) is there some kind of blend mask that would do it? Any suggestions please? Macer
Here is an image of the area - its not the best angle I know but it should be enough for you to get the idea. I couldn't get a falloff map to work and I'm not sure were to go from here. I thought that I could just use a mask to mix the two materials, but the area is quite large and the grass material requires real world scale, and the map setting for the mask map (in the mix channel) only lets me enter sizes up to 10,000mm x 10,000mm - the actual area is about 40m x 120m. I can't change the file scale because it'll affect everything else. Any suggestions? Please?
dean@pikcells
how much of that actual area do you seen in your shots? only texturing what you see may reduce work load for a start. then personally id unwrap the area and paint in the detail in photoshop. if you not sure on how to do this there are loads of tutorials out there. Macer
Thanks for your reply Dean. Yes you can actually see all of the area around the water (from different views). I will look into some unwrap tutorials.

Macer
Brilliant! Exactly what I was after. Thank you very much. I don't know how I would get by without the help of this forum. Something pretty simple as it turns out, but it would have taken me ages trying to figure it out the hard way. Thanks again.
