rmccoy
I'm not sure what the 'g' means on the description. ht - means the height of the plant w - width of the plant maintain at 48" height - maintenance will have to keep trimming the plant to 48" ' - Feet " - Inches Hope this helps. Jeff Mottle
I could be wrong, but I think "G" means the guage of the tree, which is a measure of the diameter of the tree trunk. Again I'm just guessing here. I don't know how the guage translates into realworld diameters though.
SandmanNinja
I found this link: http://www.lawncafe.com/showthread.php?t=20298&referrerid=4845 Around here, most of the neighborhoods & developments have certain standards. Ex: Corner lot has to have X# Trees, X#15g plants, X# 7g plants, X#3g plants, etc. http://www.wildlifehc.org/managementtools/backyard-stateresources-state.cfm?FrontID=690 Green Images/Native Landscape Plants Container stock (2”,4”,1g,3g,7g,15g), wholesale/retail, landscaping services, contract growing, trees, shrubs, palms, vines, grasses, and wildflowers. and finally: I've had the same 7g container for about 9 months now and its still half full. I think it's a measure of a container. A quick search of wiki shows: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Container_gardens Container gardening is the practice of growing plants exclusively in containers or "pots", instead of planting them in the ground. Jim Mann
I think it's a measure of a container. [/url] G=Gallon maybe?
Macer
I think SandmanNinja is right on this one. When I bought some trees recently, they were described and priced by the bag size that they came in. They were grown in plastic bag/sack type things which were designed to be removed before the tree was planted. These bases had a known volume (over here it was in litres) ie, 12lt, or 20lt, etc. This in turn affected the size (and presumeably the age) of the purchased tree, along with the cost. In the US this measure would probably be in Gallons? Hope this helps!
Camby1298
G is for gallon, in American nersurys its a way of measure the size of a plant, typically they go from 1 gallon (or G), 5 gallon, 20 gallon. Gor ground covers like your Florida Pepermia, they would come in 1 gallon or in trays.
