innerdream
Hey all, Hope this is a good forum for this? I have used the demos of both C4D and Modo and can't decide on which to buy? I will be doing mainly Archviz but I will get into animation and product rendering down the road. So...what is the preference from users of either or both? Thanks! AJLynn
I've used both. C4D much more than Modo. Both are very good at rendering. C4D's Advanced Render for R11 is a huge improvement over R10 and of course it has render plugins available. Modo's renderer is also really good. Modo seems to me (and this is opinion of course) a more powerful / easier to work with polygon and subd modeler, while C4D has it beat in some other modeling areas, has that excellent object manager and is way, way better (as in, not a fair comparison because Modo isn't even aimed at that market) for animating. CHE
Hi Robert, I have also used both; Modo more than C4D. Both are great programs but I lean more towards Modo. Andrew is right; it is not a fair comparison. Modo is not yet a full feature application. However, it is very powerful and it is mature enough to handle architectural modeling, rendering and animation for production work. The next release is due on the second quarter of 2009 and it will include many new nice features like fur and hair, particle systems, volumetric lights and photon based caustics just to mention a few. Luxology it’s known for being innovative and pushing forward new technology. The Modo community is great and we are lucky to have Luxology employees, including developers and its CEO, very active in the forums. My two cents. innerdream
Thanks you guys. Good information. I just downloaded the new demo of C4D, I'll put it through the test again. I really like Modo though, the renders are very easy to make look good.
