Dave Oliver
id guess this has been covered somewhere, but there are so many light cache search results its really hard to find. 3ds max 64x 4GB ram. LC - fly through (30 equally spaced frames along path - exterior/interior) 3000 subdivs .04 sample size (screen) scene i am animating pictured below it estimates about 1hr 30 min, then about 1/5 into the render it hangs and starts counting back up indefinitely. i know this must be a memory issue, but i have no problems with higher settings in other scenes. this might be some weird logic, but 1hr 30min seems pretty fast for lighting a whole scene. cant it just 'take its time' rather than trying to use so much memory all at once? i wouldnt mind if it took 6 hours, im gone anyway. is there any setting i can use to get a high quality secondary bounce for this kind of scene? Nic H
maybe try upping the dynamic memory limit to something alot higher than the default 400 mb i use 2500 mb when I have problems with light cache memory stalls, thats with 8gb ram.
