Charging companies for work? price?

ben

i had written a sensible answer but basically in business charge what you can to make a profit and make sure you are cheaper than the competition and make sure your bills and tax are covered

if you can't do that you should not be doing it and if you are then you won't be for long

no serious player here is going to tell you they charge

after all how long is a piece of string and how large a project and how soon etc etc

sorry to be rude but it's business

what i will say is clients like round figures - they don't like hourly rates so it's a per project usually i've also go a minimum get of bed cost (basically it takes time to setup any project)and if a client wants a model for "further development" then factor that in

whatever you are doing now find out what you day rate is - if you are employed somewhere basically double your salary figure and go from there

esitmate how long a project will take - factor in the bullS**t messing around - factor in delays in project and finally getting paid and then add some on top

for me it became uneconomic last year to visualise full time as rates have fallen over the past ten years i've been working with 3d so i now work back in construction management and take maybe 1 project a month that fits my criteria budgets and timescales

hope that helps

my get out of bed?? 500 quid if i know the client - more if i don't

I think the responses so far show you that the question itself is a little too 'how long is a piece of string?'. You'd be well advised to search this forum as there are a lot of threads about pricing already long discussed and some have some insight into how a company or individual prices for a job but will not answer the question in terms of one figure.

Or:

A million pounds (plus VAT)
