innerdream
I'm not getting good results. I am putting it in a material color slot and apply that to a sky object. Is that wrong? Tips?
AJLynn
I used to use an inverted sphere for this, but then they came out with the procedural sky a version or two ago... have you tried that? Use Objects menu - Sky - Create Sky then you can use Load Sky Preset (lower right screen area with the Sky selcted) to get a starting point. It's in HDR. Maybe somebody here who uses Cinema more than I do could explain the best way to use an HDR file?...

I found a tutorial on hdri here: http://www.maxoncomputer.com/tutorial_detail.asp?tutorialID=
innerdream
Here's one with the "Sky" from within C4D, looks pretty good I think. 3D Allusions Challenge Model.
Frosty
What Robert said, place HDRI in the Luminance channel. Also, if you aren't using lights, turn off the auto-light feature.

Thanks for that. I did try this and the images were very blotchy due to the hdri. The tutorial link I posted explains how to address this. Cheers.
