monayu
hi, I am totally green to 3d max, so this might be a stupid question to you... I am trying to polymodel a chair and its legs, and tried to use the bend tool to make the leg curve, but it would only curve according to the x, y, or z-axis. is there any way that i can reorient the 3 axis for an individual geometry so that the object would bend the direction I want? I tried to rotate the object, but it still didn't work... any suggestions? Thanks!!!
Dave Buckley
there is a drop down on the toolbar across the top that contains 8 different co-ordinate systems, (world, local, view etc) choose the one that says "pick" and then click on the object in question, the axis should change to suit the object you are working on
Tedrux
Loft it! draw a centre line of the chair leg for a path and loft a shape or several shape along the path then rotate it about to the correct location, no messing... Ted
dean@pikcells
you can also move the bend modifier gizmo, which may give you the result you require. deano
