NYC 3ds Max User Group meeting 11/13/08

NYC MUG will have our next bi-monthly meetup Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 7-9pm.

 

Jason Bube, a Senior 3D Artist at NBC Artworks, will be giving a presentation focused on the process and concepts behind creating the show opening for "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" on MSNBC. He will start with the conceptualization and move into the production using 3ds max and compositing in After Effects. The 3ds max production section will cover some animation, simple use of video for textures, and modeling with Particle Flow. We will try keep the presentation pretty informal and conversational, talking questions throughout and after finishing.

 

As mentioned above, Jason is a Senior 3D Artist at NBC Artworks and an Acting Art Director for MSNBC. He is one of two artists there, John Chismar being the other, that are primarily responsible for the 3D animation needs of MSNBC. In his art director role, He is also involved in most other design aspects of the channel. NBC Artworks is an award-winning motion graphics and design studio, a division of NBC, that provides for the graphic needs of NBC's east coast operations, including NBC News, NBC Sports, MSNBC, CNBC, Saturday Night Live, Late Night w/ Conan O'Brien, Telemundo, and NBC's owned & operated affiliate stations across the country.

 

Joe Gunn will be giving a presentation on some tips and tricks on "Hair" featuring some excerpts from his 2007 Autodesk Masterclass he did a Siggraph

 

In addition, time will be provided for that all important networking, pizza, and there will be door prizes. We will be raffeling off some 'Stash' videos namely: 'Stash' 3D Animation, 'Stash' usic Videos, and 'Stash' Motion Graphics amongst some more goodies...
