Michael J. Brown
I've got a shape I lathed into a smoke stack and punched some windows out of. I box UVW mapped it (before any boolean operations were performed on it). The attach image shows the mapping issue I'm having. The mapping behave properly on 60% of the object, but around here on the back side (running straight up and down this whole side) the mapping rotates 90-degrees. What's up here? Bitmap Fit does nothing at all either. Even when I switch to another type of mapping (face, planar, etc). Can anybody shed some light on this? rmccoy
Did you try using the cylinder mapping before you use the boolean feature? Maybe try that and make sure it works properly before you boolean and thing out. I try to avoid using booleans like the plague. You could also try poly-modeling the punch outs instead
Michael J. Brown
I mapped before doing any booleans (please see post) - right after I lathed the shape. Yeah, poly-modeling is something I definately need to learn. I never did get on that train. Booleans have always been second nature for me - coming from 3D AutoCAD modeling. Stangest thing though. I decided to try applying another UVW map once I had everything grouped for this element, and the problem cleared right up. Go figure.
