Kitchen- Int Render Practice

Hey all. During some downtime I decided to practice and improve my interior rendering skills by working on a kitchen. With where it's at now, I feel like I need to add more to the scene and improve on the materials. I'm using 3dS Max and have been experimenting with the VRay materials. Any tips on where to go from here? Thanks all.

I would add some depth to your window frame. Nice image!!!

Thanks for the advice. The walls did look a little thin because of the frame. I've also added tied back curtains to fill that space a little more.

Is there a name for those cloth bases you put under candles? Not quite a table cloth since they're usually so small. Trying to find some photos of them and my current searches turn up nothing.

Edit: doiley, got it.

The windows lack depth (looks much better in second image).

perspective of exterior seams off.

Counter top color is pretty bad.

Candles?…. weird location.

There is no stove top or oven in this kitchen?

The cabinets sit on the floor with no base?

Sink material seams a bit unreflective for stainless steel.

Pottery material too uniform.

I think the lighting is pretty good, but add some light fixtures. Maybe one over the sink and some downlights.

Curious, how did you do the curtains? They look a little CG, but alright.

Overall, I think it’s a good image, it’s the detail that needs work. Looking forward to update.

Thanks for your advice! In response to the counter top color and stove top/oven, I was referencing a photo and that's how they had it laid out. I'll experiement with a few other colors for the final. I didn't think I'd get called out on it, but you were the 2nd person to bring it up the stove so I'll probably put one under the microwave. I assume in the photo I was referencing, it was just off camera. I agree with the rest of your comments and so when I get a chance I'll be working on those and update this thread later on.

The curtains aren't very complicated. It's simply a plane with a wave modifier and then shaped by a lattice (FFDBox). The material still isn't exactly where I want it, but it's on the right track.

Thanks again.
