Ivan_m
I need roof tiles displacement map for this type of roof: http://www.hometips.com/catimages/012611_tile_roofing.jpg Is there any place I can find one?
Dave Buchhofer
I'm sure theres one out there somewhere, but i dont know where exactly.. so I'd suggest you could easily model a small tilable section, render it from a plan type view, and save the Z depth pass to use as a displacement
rmccoy
There is a plugin that will make these tiles for you. I've played around with it some and seems to be pretty good. http://www.batzal.com/
artassoc
I would (and have) model the tiles manualy. You will get far better results that way. After you copy the tiles, attach them and use material by element modifier to give them random coloration.
schnitz
Here's an idea... Model up one tile and render out a zdepth pass in the top veiwport. This will give you a black and white map in where the black will be stronger where the tile dips in and white will be closer to the camera. Then in the diffuse slot of a VRay material make a 'tile' material. Give it a clay type material inthe colour slot and set the colour variation to about .3-.5. tile this around as many times as you need it. Copy your diffuse map to the displacment slot and put your zdepth render in its colour slot. If this doesn't make sense I can maybe throw something quick together for you to illustrate.
