lyca
Hi I know this has been addressed before, but not in this way. In Max when i import a sketched Jpeg for drawing on it, i get the problem that the picture is shown in low quality, that i can't see the little strokes on jpeg. so can not model on it. can i do the same in autocad, anyone could explain if it's possible and how ? cheers. BrianKitts
yes, I find it easier to do it in autocad as it resamples the image as you zoom in and you can see quite cleanly the base image for modeling or even just 2D drawing. just type "image" in autocad to bring up the external references panel, and select attach image. typically then I just export the new linework back into max to finish modeling. Antisthenes
PictureFrame in the 1 horned beast i like the interpolate curve tool best for "drawing on" sketch works too. There are just more and more powerful curve creation tools is why mention it so you are not denied to option to have this power, where i think it is needed. BrianKitts
actually I'm not sure how to insert it as a background.... my method inserts the image as an object, which I prefer because it allows you to manipulate the image. Which most the time means adjusting it to the right size and scale one thing I forgot to mention is it helps to look move the inserted image down a little in the Zaxis so that you aren't drawing in the same plane as the image, but rather above it. I too had this problem a while back. It's displaying a lower quality preview image so that it speeds up viewport navigation. Go to Customize>Preferences and then click on Configure Driver. You can match my settings under Appearance Preferences (shown below), restart Max, and it should fix the problem. Hope this helps!
