monkeyboy
hello, i have a problem... when importing models out of CAD into MAX, every object created in the same layer receives the same texture. Does this mean i have to create for every single object another layer in CAD so i have full control in max with textures? or are there any parimeters when importing? thnx
Vince Paske
You can play around with the import settings to derive objects by "entity" or "convert to single objects". You'll probably end up with a bunch of ojects in your scene labelled "3dsolid01" or 3dface01", which makes organizing your model difficult. Or you could bring it in the way you are now, add an "edit mesh" modifier and use multi/sub-object materials. I always separate the layers in my AutoCad model according to material beforehand, then I use the file-link manager to bring the model into Max. Depends on your work environment though. Vince Paske
Ah...I forgot to mention that you need the design extensions for Max 5 for the FLM. If you're using Max 6, it's not in there...yet. Sorry Monkeyboy.
