EddieLeon
MySpace? Maybe I'm from an older generation, but I recommend you create a nice website with your best work first. MySpace, Youtube, linkedIn, etc. are good, but everything should link back to your website. Then you need to do what you're doing now and get your name out there as much as possible. Good luck! Crazy Homeless Guy
Yeah myspace you can make contacts there on myspace with a website ppl MAY just buy your model it's just always a good why to make contact in your field with myspace. You can do all the things you say with myspace. just put links to your website, to youtube and add contacts. This is bad advice for many reasons. A couple, ...people with money to really give you business are probably not hanging out on MySpace. You are putting your interest in the hands of a virtual neighborhood that had its hay day 2 years ago. Etc... etc...
Tommy L
Good luck Simon, bummer on losing your job, that sucks. I get alot of people visiting my blog and it serves as a great entry level website. The other good things about a blog (on Blogger) are user updatability, its free, you can get feedback, you can see how many people have visited your profile and it is quite unpretentious. People expect it to look a bit crappy and concentrate on the content instead of the site design. Honestly, every time I speak to a prospective new client, the first thing they say is 'do you have a website'. Take a look at my link in my signature here and you'll get the idea. Jim Mann
Myspace!?!?! If you want to survive, your portfolio is the most important thing you have. Nowadays, everybody is going to want to see what you do first and they are going to look for a website for that. They are going to get to that via a search engine or by you sending them the URL. Invest in your own webspace so it shows that you are professional, make the first page count, keep your navigation simple and pay attention to your keywords. Good luck! Crazy Homeless Guy
well opinions vary i have a lot of contacts who stay in touch if you look on myspace for business you will see a lot of ppl who are selling and buying things there. Myspace is not always a 100% but nor are websites. It's for just a Sergestion I think it is fine to stay in touch with MySpace, but I still would not build my business model around it. Look at the progression of things... Friendster > MySpace > FaceBook > ???? ...and running parallel is the LinkedIn network. edit: None of these scream sustainable business plan to build your business on. Tommy L
LinkedIn is quite respectable I think. It doesnt pretend to be anything pother than a business networking tool, which is very useful.
