d-rockZ
From what little research I've done... I think there is a lot of potential to use google earth as a presentational tool. Has anyone used it in a unique way to help with marketing/schematic design for architecture? Or are there any resources on the web of how architects/developers/realestate companies use g-earth to sell their ideas? I have browsed google earth communities, but I am looking for something a little more archviz specific. Thanks, Derek
Cocytus09
Hi Derek, I did something with google earth pro about a year ago. I wanted to deviate from the traditional aerial image compositing to a video composition using google earth. It's pretty straight forward and worked great to supplement the architect's in-house presentation. Here's the link: http://www.neomedia-dg.com/Content/sombrasdelsol-tract1.html Nothing too fancy, but it got the point accross visually and dynamically. -Edson. Claudio Branch
Avoid it like the plague! When everyone is using it, including the network news stations, it really isn't unique anymore. Try playing around with AfterEffects....more bang, more fun.
M V
Google Earth is a great tool. I would say that everyone is using it because it is such an amazing resource. I assume you need the Pro version to perform video exports?

quizzy
if you have GE installed on your puter, try this: http://www.3idee.nl/sf/utrecht5.kmz when downloaded, rename the .zip (IE renames that) extension to .kmz and you can double click that. be sure to turn of 3d buildings and the terrain. you can press play in the timeline in the right top corner-ish to see how the city will change over the next 20 years. And a rough animation to give a quick impression of the city: http://www.3idee.nl/3d/animation_php/media/utrecht.wmv PS Claudio, big networks are sometimes also using arch viz... ;-) But I get your point though. Dave Buchhofer
I'm all about using applications wrongly currently playing with GE to present a few hundred survey photos placed out in space on various floorplans. makes for an easily package-able zip, especially when you start to work time also
Ky Lane
I bought 0.5m per pixel satellite image data for our region. Its gorgeous, and the res/usability leaves google for dead.

Who did you get that through Ky and was it obscenely expensive? I'm looking at a similar purchase for a couple of areas down here in NSW.
