MegaPixel
http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=TexturingProb.jpg The image above shows my Issue. I am lofting a simple Brick shape along an Angled Path so that the Texture Coordinates will be in place for my "Soldier Coarse" Brick Pattern. Normally, I don't have issues like this when I loft so I must be doing something wrong or new. I've played with all of the loft settings to correct the problem, but I can't seem to get that peek to look right. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Mega
MegaPixel
http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=LoftingQuestion.jpg Question 2) Lofting Shape Manipulation While we're on the topic of Lofting, I thought I'd throw this one at you as well. I seem to get inconsistent results with my Lofted Shape orientations. In my example above, My shape ends up Mirrored. I've figured out how to Move, Rotate and Scale my Shape for Tweaking, however if I try to Mirror the Shape, the entire Loft seems to get mirrored instead. I could sure use a tip on this one too. Thanks again, Mega-
MegaPixel
Ok I just figured out the Answer to my second Question. Apparently, you have to hold down the "Ctrl" key while selecting your shape to flip it on it's Z-Axis. :???: Real obvious... Still need help on the first Question though
nisus
Hi Megapixel, Here are very short answers to your problem: 1) don't use a loft on this one! Select the line, outline and extrude or bevel. Next apply a rotated uvw so one side is aligned, add a mesh select, sub-object mode FACE (not polygon) select the other faces and uvw map with another rotation. 2) In sub-object mode, select the gizmo and rotate it 180 degrees rgds nisus
MegaPixel
Thanks Nisus. I guess with shapes as Rectangular in nature as this one, Lofting doesn't benefit you as much as it would with Curvy Shapes. I just thought that the Loft would setup my UVW Cords exactly how I needed them, but Oh well. I'll just Map it the old fashioned way.
DelfoZ
go to Modifer list / LOFT / Subobjet (SHAPE) and rotate ur Shape there. If u r making ur shape in ( for example ) front view, try to do another in the Back view and try to loft it again with the same path ..
nisus
Hi Megapixel, Even the arc could have been a simple box with bend modifier. This would of course slightly taper each brick of the texture, but is still better than the triangular cutaway produced by lofts... rgds nisus
