Michael J. Brown
I'm brand new to VRay proxies. So please bear with me. Upon proxy definition/creation, I used the option to define all individual objects as one. I noticed that the proxy when inserted took on a monolithic material. Do I now need to create multi-sub object materials for my proxies (after redefining material IDs)?

Scott Schroeder
Typically what I like to do is to take my objects that I am going to proxy and attach all of the objects into one base mesh, thereby already creating the multi-sub material that I will need. From there, I create my proxy from the attached mesh and 99% of the time the proxy will retain the correct multi-sub material. Every so often it feels the need to remove the material, but you can simply re-apply the multi-sub material that you have already created. If I let the vray attach the meshes when it's making a proxy I find that I don't get nearly as clean of a result if I do it manually.
