You mentioned crashing on close. My version of Max 6 (service Pack 1) does this alot, corrupting files. Can you give me any thoughts on this if any? kingeldar
first i can tell u it's strictly a NVIDIA problem before i had a Radeon ATI chip max used to crash of course but not the same way just closed no more max 6 just a desktop (same on another computer in a company where i do freelance sometimes with ATi Fire GL T2s) but with my Nvidia Quadro FX500 (before maxtreme 6 & ONLY with direct 3D drivers) on max close (even using KillMax app) my graphic card kept stuck in an infinite loop (don't know if loop is da word my xp speaks french... as i do) no pb since MAXTREME 6 i'm happy!! mtutaj
I was looking around Nvidia's site, but couldn't find an answer.. would the new maxtreme driver work with a GeForce FX 5600XT and max 5.1? Thanks, Mike
kingeldar
don't know anyway u should not use Game graphic cards to run professional 3D apps! my qaudro fx500 (almost a geforce fx5600 but for professional use) i an entry pro card should run an fx1000 or more.... (but it's so expensive....)
mtutaj
Hey, you can't knock someone down for using what they have.. My card before this one was a 3dlabs gvx1 when it first came out.. spent the money. I would love to have a dual xeon 3.2Ghz with 4 gig ram, 500 gig sata in raid 0. but that just wont happen at this point.. and dont know if it will ever happen. all of us do with what we have and live with it.. All I did was ask a question..and it didn't need your comments about What I should or should not be using.. It works... I am running 3 screens on this system.. and am thrilled with the performance for the price point.. thats all that matters to me..
Brian Cassil
My guess is that maxtreme will work with non-quadro nvidia cards. It's a guess though and based only on the fact that older versions of maxtreme (in previous versions of max) did in fact work with "game" cards from nvidia.
