ihabkal
yep this is bad news, I heard it last week.. really puts those of us scrapping for work in a good mood.. Actually that puts me in a very bad mood. I postponed asking for a job in Canada for one year after my mishap with the canadian embassy lady last year (long story), and now no one is hiring in North America. Seems to me I am stuck with the Lebanese for 2-3 more years until things improve. Everytime I try to get out, they pull me right in.
EddieLeon
...really puts those of us scrapping for work in a good mood. I think it's a given that we are all feeling the economic pinch, so I don't really see the point in rejoicing over the misfortunes of others. Besides, as the large studios downsize there will be more freelancers flooding the market and going after fewer projects. Next year might be a bit of a blood bath.... EddieLeon
Oh. That makes sense. I took his words too literally. Americans can also be ironic/sarcastic Thanks for clarifying.

EddieLeon
Ooops! Sorry Simon. I didn't get your humor at first I think there is a lot of work that is still out there. We all just need to work harder and smarter to get it.
JDillon
Hello All, Does anyone want to hear some good news? November 08 was our busiest month this year, so December 08 will be our highest billing month. It's just me and some part time guys I use, but it was a much needed boost. I'm not saying we are in a steady upward trend, but it's something. My bids were about 25% lower than what I would normally do. There is some work out there, but not as much. So when you have the opportunity to make a bid, only lower it to a point that you know you can still make money. It's easy to lower your prices, but very difficult to bring them up. Thank You, Jason Dillon
EddieLeon
That's great news Jason! Congrats! We had a slow November, but December turned out to be really good. I agree that the work is out there if you look hard for it and adjust pricing. I hope we all have a great 2009!
