Tommy L
Hi everyone, Im teaming up with some other graphics professionals and chasing work other than just the architecture game. Heres our website: http://www.burningboystudio.com Let me know what you think of the work, the site, or any comments you have the time and inclination for. Thanks as always, Tom. Crazy Homeless Guy
Good Luck. The only initial comment that I have is that '3d' seems out of place in realtion to to 'New Work, Things, Live Things.' Perhaps a different title for this category would work better. 1eo
Very nice... for being a Flash site. It was kept elegant and simple. Just the way all site should be regards,
BrianKitts
Some great content on there. I have to agree with Travis, the 3D doesn't fit the fun naming you have going already. Maybe a better list would be Real things, Live things, and Fake things
otacon
The work looks great...a lot of really cool images. The site is easy to navigate too.
Macer
Great site, interesting content. My only suggestion would be a comma in the middle of the sentence on the our clients page. Well done!
Claudio Branch
Nice work Tommy... Is this a rebranding of your current firm or a completely new collaboration?
Tommy L
Hello Claudio, A new collaboration. I still have all my architectural clients, but Ive got together with a photographer (http://www.klphoto.net) and a retoucher (http://www.joeybluebird.com) and now we have all moved into the same studio (to form Burning Boy Studio). We are doing all sorts of interesting things. Creating our own HDRI's, rendering sets for photography, I even rendered an octopus for an underwater car shot yesterday. We have only just started out, so we are doing the portfolio images which is really good fun and stretching our capabilities. Each discipline has a body of clients, so hopefully the work will begin to take advantage of each others skills as the clients become aware of the capabilities we have. Claudio Branch
We are doing all sorts of interesting things. Creating our own HDRI's, rendering sets for photography... I also meant to ask if some of those images were HDR-based. I recently attended a seminar featuring Ben Willmore and he discussed techniques for creating HDR-based images. Some of your images reminded me of his. I noticed the Real Flow image from your Blog as well. Is that your work? I have been using RF too. It is an incredible app if you can rough it through the learning curve. I am glad to see you getting to move into other areas of 3D besides architecture. I am certain it can provide inspiration for others...
Tommy L
I love RF and as soon as I get a job that justifies the purchase, Ill buy it. Im just using the demo at the moment. I bought the Gnomon training DVD for it also, but havent had time to watch it yet. I tried creating HDRI's on my own, it was a nightmare. Working with a high end pro photographer really does change the way you work. I am very lucky to be working with a retoucher and a photographer with 30 years each in the business. We all learn from each other, partly by requesting things that we usually wouldnt be asked to do.
Claudio Branch
I just picked up a couple of RF tuts myself from Digital Tutors. Good stuff man. The RealWave and Dynamic Simulations titles are both over 3 hours long. All kinds of examples, file scenes and a working demo version... Keep it flowing Brutha... rmccoy
I was just checking out your site. It looks really nice. I like the clean and simple feel of it. Also the collaboration between the 3 people sounds really fun. Good luck with everything. I have a few comments about the site. under 'CGI things' it shows as having 8 pieces while there are really only 7. Also, it would be nice to be able to navigate backwards on the portfolio pieces starting at image 1. Be able to go from the first portfolio image to the last one without having to go thru everything.
