Paul Griger
Hi all, haven't been here in long time. In my last year of undergrad SARUP @ UW-Milwaukee. Will be finishing last semester in Chicago in Merchandise Mart studio. Have alot of work generated from school that I should probably post here. This short film is from my Architecture and Film class. The intent of the class is to make us look at how we tell a story in architecture and to leave no detail untouched. Make each frame count, and consider what story am I telling with each frame. I found the creative process in architecture and film complimentary, the skillsets from one enhance the other. William Alexander
Good to you see you around. >I found the creative process in architecture and film complimentary, the skillsets from one enhance the other. it's all about telling a story, communication of a concept. Cheers good luck at the Merchandise Mart and watchout for those F.I.Bs, hehe just kidding WDA
Frosty
Paul, I also attempted this in 1999 for a NAFTA exchange studio. At the time I had to fight with the prof to use video as a valid architecture exploration tool. Your example is much more polished than mine - created with a borrowed Hi-8 camcorder with 5 mins battery life and then captured through RCA cables on a 300mhz PowerMac! dpcaltdcah
Oh, you'll have Neil Frankel? he's the best! I am another former Frankel student. But from before they started the chicago studio, enjoy, he's very open to things like this.
Paul Griger
Hey WDA, I see you're in TX now. You're missing all the snow we are getting today, or maybe you don't miss it My Chicago studio Prof is a proud FIB, I'm looking FWD to being an honorary FIB for the semester. Frosty, Hi-8 seems perfect for that subject and I enjoyed the score with the footage. It would be interesting to see that footage run through AE and color grade it to play up the vintage and lo-fi feel. Cassandra, How great to run into a previous Frankel student here! I'm looking forward to learning from him, the experience has all of the ingredients to be a milestone in my undergrad career.
