BrianKitts
I'm working on a scene and getting some oddities in my shadows. Chairs that are farther from the lights have shadows that don't meet the floor at the same point as the actual geometry. I've backed off the lights in the scene to just one bank of lights to isolate the problem and then started playing with the shadow bias settings but I'm getting no improvement. Anyone have an idea of what adjustment I'm missing? thanks in advance. -bk
Tommy L
It doesnt look like a bias problem because the shadows are all offset in one direction, rather than from the light source. It looks like a 'pre-calculated light solution then the geometry moved' problem. But the direct lighting isnt usually pre-calculated, so Im stumped. try deleting the lights (saving different file first:)) then go back to basics with the lights. And maybe post a grab of your settings. Are you using any multiple geometry scenarios as a dodge to reduce render times? Are any of these objects proxies? bijoy
hmmm...can we see the lights that you have in the scene (Viewport)? Looks like you might have omni's in the scene. Can't tell at the moment but i would say delete all the lights and start by using just vraylight material for the light sources then move on from there. Try not to use omni's to light up the scene and instead use IES lights or just use the color correction to lighten up the scene. Hope this helps. Crazy Homeless Guy
What happens if you switch the large lights to a different IES file? Maybe one you have used successfully in the past. Does the problem still exist?
Koper
looks as if you have two sets of chairs, the first being invisible but casting the shadows and the second being visible and not casting shadows, with both sets not aligned to eachother. or the floor is a box with normals facing inwards maybe its in the modeling and not in vray.
