innerdream
This house is in Architectural Record, well my version isn't exact but it's another fun exercise. CC welcome, especially on the trees, block houses and background. Edited December 13, 2008 by innerdream
sutcac
All in all a nice effort. The only thing that catches my eye as not that convincing are the block pavers. Not a very inviting looking house.

Not a very inviting looking house. Thanks Bryce. Yah I agree about the pavers, I'm looking for a good texture. The house actually has 2" wood slats for a decking which looks really nice against the concrete and stone. I like the house, it's in Japan - seems to fit. sutcac
I think the wood slats would be nicer for sure. Was that this month's issue? Got it but hadn't cracked it yet. I kind of dig this "Split House" in China.
innerdream
Yep, 12-08 for the magazine. That house in China is cool. Looks like it could be in Malibu, the hills look similar.
innerdream
New deck material. Edited December 13, 2008 by innerdream
sutcac
Much better. Now just aesthetically, I would go for a warmer brown color or something (like the wood might be), to contrast and compliment the other materials.

Agreed, I think I'll make a wood texture later, it looks good on the actual house.
innerdream
I think I like this view as a final. Deck A or B? Edited December 14, 2008 by innerdream
cadmunkey
I saw this article and I think you have done a really good representation of it. The house itself is fantastic!

Hey thanks a lot. I just wanted to get close because it is a very cool house I agree. The photo is outstanding too. I wasn't able to match that exactly though. innerdream
Are these massing houses better than the white ones? I know the roofs look low but they're not, it's the camera angle and lens.
innerdream
Okay, I think I'll stop here.
sutcac
Sorry, dropped the ball on this. Holidays you know. I would have went for deck A. Not sure about the plants against the fence. Almost looks like they're coming through it? Anyway, it's pretty nice work.

I was leaning towards deck A too but decided on the contrast. Glad you like it and thanks. By the way...I looked at your work and that little cottage is pretty sweet. Good job. Horhe
Nice one Robert, lot of good changes in this thread. The latest image is much much better, maybe some people or birds in the sky.
