3dsmax5 render2texture question

[using the 30-day demo of max5]

[i'm a VIZ3/VIZ4-user normally]

I'm trying to export a max5 scene into VRML, with full lighting applied in the textures.

However, the export disregards the modified UV-coordinates. It only uses the basic BOX-mapping I started with.

Even when collapsing to editable mesh or poly, the "Automatic flatten UV" (a variant of the UVW-unwrap modifier) that was assigned, isn't preserved.

Then I tried UVW-unwrap, but it generated a different mapping...

Anyone has a better solution?

Even exporting into *.3ds and preserving MAX-coordinates didn't export the newly generated UVW-coords. Can you "bake" or "fix" or "glue" the "automatic flatten UV's" into real UVW coordinates for the mesh?
