Peter M. Gruhn
OK, OK, I'll research it on my own if I have to, but maybe somebody knows the definitive answer off the top of their head. I'm all about real world size and real world uvw's and everything. Life is good. And then there's the noise map. It's a handy map. Use it for all sorts of things, but even back in the day I noticed that it rendered differently than it showed in the viewport. And now that I am all real worldy I notice that it doesn't have real world size (max 9). It does change size based on where and what kind of coordinates it is getting, so sometimes a "size" of 10 is good and other times a "size" of 0.01 is good. So anyway, how big is it really? I will spare you my many conjectures. - g

mattclinch
short answer - not sure. long answer - i THINK, noise and all other procedural textures are not effected in scale by UV's. i've always taken the 'size' to be a real world unit, eg. scale of 1.0 when working in metres means the noise map is 1m in size. its only my rule of thumb though, and works 1 in every 4 or 5 times. i hate procedurals. make a 1k x 1k noise map of your own that tiles. far easier. Nic H
yeah it took me quiet a while to realise that noise maps arent affected by uvw mods
Gus_Rayvus
You can change the noise map to explicit map channel. Then it will work with your UVW map.
