ihabkal
Hi, I need to find out for sure, how much are the fees if there are any, for a foreign toddler (Grade 2 next year) in Canadian public schools in the GTA. Pelase let me know if you are sure (not speculation). I hope they don't treat him as an international student and charge $10,000... thanks
Jeff Mottle
Hi Ihab, I called the school board there and they put me on to this website: http://www.tdsb.on.ca/ They said to look under the international students and adminissions section. I found this link and it looks like you may indeed have to pay. I don't know what it means to be an international student though. Might have to research this site a bit more. http://www.tdsb.on.ca/_site/ViewItem.asp?siteid=180&menuid=729&pageid=584 I live in Alberta and every province has its own policies on education, so I don't know much more, but I just called the General number in their contacts section. Good Luck.

AJLynn
Does that mean you're moving to Canada after all? Great news.
ihabkal
Hi Andrew, Thanks for thinking of me. I just got great news, I just got a response from the Toronto Public Schools, and there are no fees to put my kids in the public school with a work permit. That’s a load off Interational fees are $10,500 for a 1st grader...No way to pay that with an illustrator salary... Now I can breathe. That was one of the reasons I postponed going to Canada 18 months ago. I am just wating for a positive response from my hopefully future employer, and I am leaving everything behind but the kids and wife of course There are rumors of a war in the Summer, and tomorrow riots begin in Beirut (I don't know for what this time) Thanks,
