BrianKitts
Has anyone else had an issue with placing a movie file in the diffuse channel for a material? We've done it in the past for animation projects to put content on television screens, but now in 3dsmax 2009 it's no longer working. A file created in 2008 opened in 2009 causes an error at rendertime that it can not read/write to the movie file, and a new material created in 2009 won't let you select a movie file for the diffuse texture. gfa2
I just tried it in max 2009 64bit (not max design) and it worked. I selected an avi...looks like mpg is also supported.
amer abidi
I just tried it in max 2009 64bit (not max design) and it worked. I selected an avi...looks like mpg is also supported. Weird. I also just tried it (32bit), and it doesn't work! won't allow it to be selected. very weird, Cause i've also done it so many time on previous versions of max. Will try again on 64 bit tomorrow and let you know. EDIT: Actually just thought of something, but dont have the means to try it out now. If you have previous versions of max (like 2008) where you are sure it works, try assigning the material in 2009 as an xref material. Like is said, just an idea, but might work. BrianKitts
interesting..... so the answer I got off of autodesk's forums is that 64bit max 2009 design doesn't have the codecs to run video, but run it as 32bit and you'll have no problem. that's just unfortunate. Nic H
iv been opening the mov / avi's in fusion/aftereffects and saving out frame sequences of tgas to get around this rather annoying problem. just pick the first file and click sequence and max will make you a ifl to point to.
