A.Mitov
Hi, We have problems with our LAN network when rendering in DR. There are 3 computers, two of them rendering in DR and I'm working on the third. But every time I have to open a mapped network drive or folder in it in Windows or trough 3Ds Max (2008) the computer freezes for about a minute. Could this be related to the network? It is a small LAN - 3 PCs with built-in Intel ethernet adaptors (100 mbit), all of them running on XP x64 connected by ASUS 100 Mbit router. We are rendering with V-ray 1.5 SP1. afterglow
had similar problem with xp64 and my network drive, though it wasn't related to rendering.. problem turned out to be caused by the anti-virus software i was using (avast).. disable it and see if that's the problem.. if it is the problem, try using NOD32 antivirus instead, it fixed the issue for me. Tommy L
I would also check you dont have any folder shares or mapped network drives that dont exist/incorrect network paths.
A.Mitov
We have NOD 32 installed on the PCs. Network paths seem to be correct, nothing wrong when I checked them. I'll try to disable the anti-virus software and see if it helps. Edit: Don't know if it's because I closed NOD32 but now I found that it happens only when opening the assigned project folder. The interesting thing is that the problem is usually gone when I restart the computer but it gets really tedious. A.Mitov
Turned off the firewall - still no change. Going in the assigned project folder still freezes the PC.
A.Mitov
Thanks for the help, lecameleon, but that din't help. It turned out that it was because of the Intell on-board network controller of the main PC (where the mapped drives are)! I had a spare PCI ethernet card which I pluged the network cable in. No problems so far and let's hope henceforth.
