mikedanchalski
I'm a recent convert to Vray and I'm having some problems with materials, they look sort of washed out. Any tips for making them show up more vibrant? In particular the wood, cobblestone and copper could use some more ummph. Thanks Mike
Tommy L
Looks more like your exposure settings than the materials. Could you post your render settings? Tom.
mikedanchalski
Thanks for the replies! I've already upped the gamma to 2.2 and got some favorable results (image 034 & 035) I tried the exponential color mapping and got more improvement test 036 Are there any settings on the exponential mapping that could be tweaked? (exponential settings.jpg) I just changed the pull down from Reinhard Mike
Tommy L
I think your exposure looks fine now. There are no rules to this, mainly because there are so many variables. There are a couple of procedures some people find helpful (search for LWF [linear work flow] and RWF). Its mostly a case of trial and error and practice. You may find it helpful to be fairly controlled in your tests. Set up a simple test scene that renders quick and test material and light settings in that file. mikedanchalski
Thanks again guys I'm using a Vray sun and Vray sky in the environment. Sun pretty much has default settings. I'm also using a Vray Physical camera, also with default settings, though I started playing around with the white balance, setting it for daylight, (must have reset when I did the capture). How do you disable the fstops? And what does vignetting do? Mike Edited December 19, 2008 by mikedanchalski forgot attachments
