sleipnir
I just got my GTX280 and I would need some advises on how is the best way to configure it for Autocad and specially for Max to get the most of it: Should I modify any settings at the Nvidia configuration panel and on each of the programs? Do you advise me to use Direct3D or OpenGL? DirectX9 or 10? Thank you Diego

Thank you Diego Trywith this bench http://rapidshare.com/files/3108339/bmark4.rar.html unrar, and start max script, if it doesnt start first time, second it will, play with D3D/ OGL and post the results here, also write the MAX/Windows version (XPVista). So, post the FPS first, to look it further, good luck.
sleipnir
Thanks Zdravko, Some textures were not found. Zdravko Barisic
This is OpenGL or D3D? If it is D3D, you are on Dx10 or Dx9? The wireframe score is somehow to lower wireframe1.MAX | 5.07949 wireframe2.MAX | 5.05416 It should be 10-15 at least or even more.
sleipnir
I'm using D3D with Dx9, But.. Vista perfomance option -> visual effects is in: "let windows choose" which I think is closer or equal to best quality. I'll try without that and let you know. For the rest I'm using D3D and NVIDIA's default settings, do you suggest me to change any parameter? thank you
Zdravko Barisic
I'm nooby to Vista&Dx10, but as far as I know, D3D in MAX 2009 is somehow slower than MAX 2008/ XP PRo. If you turn off aero etc...?
sleipnir
Nope, I'ver tried and it keeps around the same figures. In the meantime I experimented your benchmark with a laptop whith both Vista and XP installed, and the results are disturbing. Xp undoubtely beats Vista and even in a slower machine It gave me 19 fps against 5 on the new one. Did you have similar results when comparing Vista with XP? Seems that I have to swith for XP? Zdravko Barisic
Did you have similar results when comparing Vista with XP? Seems that I have to swith for XP? I have an old 7900GTO, and I found it also as you, it is slower on Vista than on XP.
cadmunkey
Did you download the latest 64 bit 280 drivers? They were released on the 10th December I think v180.48, this has improved some programs for me.
