the Rev.
Hey everyone. Brand new to these forums... and actually brand new to architectural 3d (character animator here). This is the beginning of a rendering for a new building project we have going on. I am working on C4D version 8.5 - no GI so I have to fake it. This is lit with a light dome (24 lights) and one spot with area shadows. What can I do to 'spice' it up? All C&C's welcome. -g
Cesar R
hi i would change the shadows on the spot to raytraced. also, what is the intensity of your 24 lights, what type of lights are they, and what color post a wireframe if you can
sutcac
Hmmm...any export options with C4D? .3ds? .dwg? There are some great, free, open-source rendering solutions like Kerkythea (which you can get into via the free Sketchup) which I use exclusively that would really get you on a better footing with this. I model in Chief Architect and find their on-board Pov rendering solution to be completely unacceptable. Some kind of backdrop image would help. What is going on in those windows? Some kind of image placed there?
the Rev.
Thanks guys I unfortunately don't have raytracing on my renderer. I bought the 8.5 core with no modules... eons ago. As for Kerkythea - I'll look into it. I know I can export via multiple formats - would probably have to do some retexturing. Re: the wireframe - I'd happily post it - but it wouldn't tell you much. The import is really a mess - a lot of cleaning up as I go. the window? Yes - these are placeholders for new stained glass windows that haven't been designed yet. I did come across the new C4D demo - leaps and bounds from v8.5 to 11. here's the comparison between: top left - the new C4D renderer with GI bottom left - the old C4D renderer with a light dome (24 white lights, at 7% with soft shadows) and a single blueish light at 65% with area shadows. The one on the right was given to us by the architects as a quick flythrough.
Nate
The model needs some interesting textures.
