Dave Buckley
i know its xmas eve and motivation is hard to find, but i have been learning vray for a bit now. however i have just switched back to mental ray and i can't remember how to put a decal on something?? i am trying to put a logo on a golf ball, really simple, or so i thought until i just tried it. i used to be able to do it fine back when i was using mental ray everyday, but it seems that part of my knowledge has been erased or moved temporarily. i can't remeber how i used to do it?? the base material for the golf ball is arch and design. the logo is a PSD file (logo on transparent background) now did i used to use a mask in the diffuse slot of the a&d material???? did i use a composite material???? i can't seem to get either working i think it was with the composite material i hope this isn't a regular thing, yesterday i forgot how to do simple hdri in mental ray, as i was so used to the vray hdri material. but then i managed to do it numerous ways. think i confused myself by using portal lights in a studio setup and then couldn't rember where to put the hdri (how silly of me) anyhow, any help on the decal will be great guys
lecameleon
Several ways to do it.. but here is one.. Use a blend material.. Use your base material (arch and design you said) as the first material.. use the second material with the logo as the diffuse map.. Use the mask map section below and drop in a masked version of your logo (white areas are opaque, will show the logo only.. and the black areas will reveal the base material underneath) Ciao, merry x'mas
