RAYMOND
my cabinete are going thru the sheetrock to the wall core... how not?? r:confused:
TheAllusionisst
Sheetrock isn't structural outside of the shear membrane type quality if offers, hence you don't want to hang your cabinets off of just sheetrock if you are actually supporting their weight. Wall cleat system fastened to the studs or screwed directly to the studs is typically how it is done. When it is required for the wall and not the studs to support cabinets and shelves, then a plywood or similar backing is applied to the wall (can be under the sheetrock) and then casework can be supported off the plywood that is connected to the studs............ Someone else may have another idea, but this is how it is done in the US. Side note: Plenty of people support stuff off walls via anchor systems that expand when tightened, but that is usually a consumer application for small items, but it is not recommended to hang any real wieght off of GWB, especially if it is only 1/2" Edited December 26, 2008 by Russell L. kris McIsaac
you could use a reference plane with an adjustable offset from the wall center. I am guessing it is created from that ref plane so will extend back onto the wall core. If you give it an instace parameter you can set it differently for different wall types and thicknesses. Or you can create them as a face based family and not wall based or have no host at all and just move them into place manually.

Cesar R
I hope the attached files help you. It is a GENERIC WALL BASED family, in which a attached a reference plance to the "WALL" in the template and then I modeled the "CABINET" off of the reference plane. kris McIsaac
Your cabinet is on the wrong side of the wall. I moved it to the placement side and locked it to the wall face and it seems to work fine see the attachment and let me know if it works.

RAYMOND
ok, that's what i was looking for however the "copy of.." seemed to have the 8" finish ??on the wrong side i changed it to "1/2 sheetrock" and moved it to the cabinate and side (or placement side) and there was great rejoicing.... why does reality have to be so rigid?? r:D
Cesar R
hey, dont pick on my BAD method of material selection, I was just illustratin a concept and lets say inacurately. (meaning I dint pay attetnion to the GWB, placement or anything)
