HarryG
Anyone knows how to turn off the 'task time out (50 minutes) for Region Net Render (or splitscanline Net Render, the new feature in Max6 that let multiple computers render a single large frame) ? I got error messages from each server that takes more than 50minutes to render a strip! It (the rendering manager) just says 'Server XXX flagged as error as it took too long to process a task'. Why the hell do they put time limits on rendering still images? Isn't it natural to take hours to render a 5000x3750, fully raytraced complex still image??? abicalho
Go to the Monitor, Right-Click a Job and Edit Properties. Timeout is one of them. Alexander
Crazy Homeless Guy
i ran into this problem last night also. i sent a handful of renderings, and i came in this morning only to find out that max had timed out, and not i having to cut corners to hit my deadline. according to max's help files there should be a 'advanced settings' dialog where you can increase the time out. i think this button is supposed to be next to the check box for net render in the render option dialog. it is not there. does anyone know where this dialog is? ...alexander, is this the dialog that pulls up per your instructions? demo38
I just hit the same time out error, the difference is that it was on the same file with the same lighting set up (from Max v6) that I wasn't getting the time out errors on, until I had installed the new v6 service pack? I assume that means they "fixed it" now... I found the dialog that you mentioned Alexander. It's misleading the way that they've chosen to display the dialog. The values for time out are ghosted, yet active. In other words there is no way to disable the time out all together, only to Enable the Time outs and increase the number of minutes... I guess I'm just surprised it's set up that way... Thanks for the thread.
