Ky Lane
Gday guys. For some reason some (not all) of my RPC objects are rendering in red. Any ideas? This is frustrating the hell out of me.
Tommy Burns
Your archvision content manager is not reading where the files are correctly. Have a look where it is looking for them. Sometimes I had this problem for no reason at all. Usally if i saved my file it was okay dunno why? Hope this helps ya?
Ky Lane
I think its a Mental Ray/Memory Issue. If I touch any of the RPC's in a session, they'll render red, or their reflections will. If I save it, close it, reopen it and hit render - it works; until I touch something. Been really disappointed with my RPC experience, at least with MR. Might be time to go back to Vray perhaps.. Tommy Burns
It's been a while since I used them, like you I sort of gave up and did them in post. Now that you say it I do remember if I had some selected when I rendered these would render red. I seem to remember some plugin I installed that let you chose if the rpc's would have their own illumination when you placed them and other settings can't really remember. I don't know if i'm imagining it but I think it had something to do with mental ray and I got it on the archvision site. Worth a look to see and if I remember anything else I'll post it here. Let me know how you get on.
Tommy L
Its a memory issue. When they run out of allocatable memory, rpcs render in a very bizarre fashion. Another reason not to use them.....
Ky Lane
Agreed. Theyre starting to look very ordinary, apply very ordinarily and cause more drama than they save.

Claudio Branch
Why would you EVER want to use them ANYWAY? Especially now that MR handles proxies...
