Qs ab importing 2d cad file to max

1 which is a better way , import or file link manager

2 y sometimes snaps not working with the file (e.g for end line points)

3 sometimes when i extrude a spline (part of cad) it doesn't get the color n it's always gray

I normaly use the Import option to get my cad files into Max.

 

It is best to strip out all the unwanted data (in autocad) and purge and audit the file before it is used. I also normaly set the origin to 0,0,0 so the data is easy to find and work with.
