SgWRX
hello. i was playing around with mixing diffuse noise maps in an arch&design material. mix - noise - color 1 noise - color 2 noise - noise mix map is noise. so when i render this in a plane, it appears as though it's radiating out from the center of the plain. has anyone else seen this? max 9 & mental ray
Ky Lane
HOw many divisions on the plane? Try upping them.
SgWRX
at first it was 1x1 but then i made a new one with 4x4. they were both about 140"x140". i added a uvwmap modifier and played with that, same results.
Ky Lane
How far are you from 0,0,0? Also, check the size of your noise particles, I found if I went too small, they did that alot.
SgWRX
plane is at 0,0,0. i varried the size of the various noise maps, didn't seem to help. however i think i stumbled upon it. the noise map that is in the mix amount amount slot. i varried the size, that didn't help. i switched from regular to fractal, didn't help. went to turbulence and that seemed to help, but potentially still could be there. finally, i played with the High and Low values, bringing them closer together, and that seems to have fixed it completely for regular and fractal types. sum type of noise calculation thing going on (pardon the pun). SgWRX
nope, i take that back now. it didn't help. it is something in the mixing. i increased the size of the plane to about 5x larger than it was, zoomed out and the same type of problem came back. it also happens whether i use a noise map to mix or if i manually set the mix amount to 50 or 60. changing the size of the nested noise maps doesn't help. so it's something in the mixing algorithm.
