neil poppleton
Anyone know of such a script / software available ? I have seen a vray batch render pro 6.2 but this does not seem to link in with network rendering unfortunately.
BrianKitts
As long as you aren't rendering to vrimg files you can setup all your cameras in the 3dsmax batch render dialog box, and then select the net render option to send them off to backburner. neil poppleton
I guess you use the saves presets for pre-calculations settings and final renders.
BrianKitts
Actually I typically only precalc my animations. When batching stuff it's normally overnight, so I really don't care about the short time it takes to calculate the irradiance. What's 30mins for a 6 hour render? I do use the presets though to send additional renders for AO.
neil poppleton
Cheers Brian, Their are a few bits of software in the market that do the job for a FEE, shame it's already their in Max, just a matter of digging around.
mikes8500
What do you guys do for the sun position if you have a large number of stills to batch render? I don't think that saved scene state tracks that. Is animating the sun the only way? Also what about rendering presets, do the presets from the rendering dialogue save all the granular v-ray settings? I notice that there is a vray specific preset manager, but I don't think you can call on this from the batch renderer. Mike
neil poppleton
you can select any or all of the 5 sections within the render setup dialogue box using presets including the vray settings. i dont use states but i guess this will save sun positions and if on or not. give it a try. mikes8500
I don't think the scene states save the sun position. Would it be practical to clone the Vr sun linked to Max's daylight system, change the time and juggle on and off with the scene state? Potentially I could have half a dozen suns in the scene at different times.
Tommy L
You can animate the sun/camera and render as an animation.
Devin Johnston
I don't think the scene states save the sun position. It does I do it all the time.
BrianKitts
It does I do it all the time. I agree.... it's a lifesaver. We typically will render all sides of a project which requires having the perfect sunlight for each specific camera..... only way to manage this without pulling your hair out is to use scene states. Then your all set when you need to setup batch rendering.
