viz.k
Hi I already asked for help on my native (polish) board but nobody was able to give me an answer so i'm trying here. The problem is with the viewport, sometime it is o.k but most of the time the scene gets just too bright, burned out actually. It's like it's o.k and then, after 3seconds it gets bright, I rotate the view (while rotating it's usually o.k) and then after a couple of seconds it gets bright again. Here it's o.k Here is the same scene after just 3seconds (sometimes without even touching the mouse!) Other scene I get this with every single scene I work with and it drives me crazy. Things I tried to solve it: - ambient color in environment menu -new video drivers -recently I upgraded my video card from gf8600 to gf9800 - it is still the same -all combinations of viewport options (default lighting on/off, 1/2lights - nothing) I just don't get it - where could be the problem if not in the 3dmax options nor video card/drivers. Oh, I recently also updated max from 2008 to 2009. But I also had the same problem back on max9. I just don't get it - any ideas? Any idea may be helpful, as all the logical solutions failed to help me:) Thanks, P.
Tommy L
ctrl + L wil stop the light influencing the scene in the viewport.
viz.k
yeah i know, i obviously tried that:) I think it's the same as ticking on "default lighting" in the viewport options - doesn't help, sometimes helps but just three clicks later it gets bright again
Dave Buchhofer
I remember a script, think it was from bobo, where you could re-order the lights in the scene.. because only the first 8 lights in the scene get used by the viewport lighting, so if you have your sunlight in those first 8 the viewport lighting gets obscenely bright.. i mostly just toggle between the default and 2 way lighting though as needed.. since 2008 the viewport shaders have been much nicer
Dave Buchhofer
2003 was probably why i couldn't remember what it was called http://www.scriptspot.com/bobo/mxs4/ second one down
Peter M. Gruhn
I have the same problem often enough. Different versions, different machines, different installs. I've put it down to just one more Max annoyance.
aligrafix
May be its your VGA Card problem. If you are using the Good quality VGA card, then it is problem may be that your VGA card doesnt work queit good. I guess you are using motherboard built-in card. If you are using it, go to the viewport in preferences of max. Turn of "Cache 3D" option in "configure driver". Your scene will be fine.
erickdt
ctrl + L wil stop the light influencing the scene in the viewport. What he said. I have to say I generally find the viewport lighting pretty useless except in a very few instances.
Tim Nelson
I am really annoyed by this right now...Ctrl+L will fix it for a second, but as soon as I click on an object, the Vray lights become active again and blows the whole viewport out.....grrrrr
Tommy L
Hmmmn....it shouldnt do that. Try going straight to the source, email Vlado and see if he has any ideas.
Tim Nelson
Hey I think I found the solution...for myself at least. You need to make sure that ALL of your viewports are configured for default lighting....my lower left viewport had default lighting unchecked, and that was causing all the other viewports to be out of whack. It seems to be fine now, no switching back and forth. Hope that helps someone.
viz.k
You need to make sure that ALL of your viewports are configured for default lighting.... Thanks i'll try that. As for the ctrl+L - it's the first thing i tried, i know how it works and that it should fix it, but as Tim Nelson said, it fixes it for a second, any click on the scene results in the problem occuring again.
