Sergio
Hi all, I am so much in a hurry with this one; question looks quite simple( at least looks simple), but the answer is difficult : I got big scene, very big, and I would like to make a light to include all objects, but to cast shaddows only, at the other hand copy clone using the same light to iluminate only, but this time selected objects only. I made some experiments with include exclude, witheen the light its self, but did not work. Looks to me like "no shaddows without illumination". I am not trying to be difficult, just little bit more control, over the scene. When I started this thread, I was thinking, that question is going to be easy one , its little bit twisted but I hope is not confusing. Please if anybody can help me I have to start rendering as soon as possible. Thanx. Regards Sergio!
STRAT
ok. follow this. i pressume you want say 1 omni light just illuminating the scene and not casting shadows, but you want the shadows comming from another source, but no illumination comming from this source? (ie, your illumination and shadows eminating from 2 separate possitions) solution - 1) place your main non shadow casting light somewhere in the scene. turn off all shadows. It's multiplier can be set to your own choosing. 2) place another omni for the shadow casting in the possition you want the shadows eminating from. turn ON all shadows, and exclude nothing. turn it's multiplier to +1.0 3) exactly duplicate this omni light in exactly the same possition. Then make sure for this light that shadow casting is OFF. turn it's multiplier down to -1.0 vwalla!!! you shadow casting and lighting sources are 2 separate entities.
