Hi People. I just rendered this image last night which I'd like to add to my portfolio. I found a few things that need fixing and tweaking from the High Res version but would love some C&C before finishing it in a few days time.

I plan to re-shot the background image when the weathers better, heavy clouds have been hanging around all week

Thanks in advance.

Martin

Your wood floor texture's seams are a bit too thick. I'd also work some more on the frosted glass material. Did you turn off trace refelctions? If so, I'd turn it back on to add some more depth to the material.

There seams to be some wierd GI artifacts on the soffit and in the trim around the inside of the doorwell as well.

Thanks for the comments.

What do you mean by "Wood too thick"?

The frosted glass does have Ref on but I need to put something behind for it for reflection, I'll update tomorrow.

I also picked up on the strange GI artifacts around all the wall/roof edges, its on my to-do-list tonight. Any suggestions on that issue.

Updated image.

Not a huge change but I did some work on the lights trying to get away from the even lighting in the first image.

I still need to do some investigating on the issue with the GI on the wall edging. so any suggestions are welcome.

Hi MI75,

In my original post I was reffering to the seams in the wood floor, in the texture itself, seam a bit too big to me. I reality, the seams between wood floor planks are hardly noticable.

As for the frosted glass; It's just not reading as real to me. When I look at your image my eye goes straight to it. I'm not sure what the solution is in that instance. I think that simply "playing around" with it will yield the best results. (sorry, not much help I know)

The GI: I find that most GI problems (outside of render settings which seem to be OK in your case) comes about when there is a lack of light (bounce light or otherwise) on the surface. You might be able to help this problem by turning up your secondary bounces in the indirect illumination rollout. Outside of that, my next guess would be that some overlapping geometry is the culprit...

Thanks for the reply, I'll tinker with the frosted glass and maybe even change the colour. i understand what your saying about the wood floor now, I'll work on the wood seam tonight.

As for the GI issue I'll have to do some test renders and check the geometry and see if I can find a solution.
