Dave Oliver
starting out on this house interior. trying to model it so ceilings/floors/walls are all one poly object. seems easier than having a bunch of stupid boxes floating around. next step is to instert lights and wall features
jameson101
Hey there, It is looking good, is it taking you longer to have all those as one object. How are you going to do the mapping and bump/displacement when you add materials? I mean wouldn't a multi sub material take longer to sort out than separate materials when the mapping of each element is involved.
Dave Oliver
this way i dont have any seams, and because the 1st floor is open to the second, id like it to be continuous all the way through. it also gives me an edge at the corners of the room i can snap a line to loft the molding and trim. i dont really manage the multi-material that is applied to it, i just select the polygons i want and apply the individual textures, it does the rest automatically. if you apply one uvw map to it, you can change the tiling of the individual textures if you need to, since your not really going to use them anywhere else. im starting on the kitchen now. anyone know where i can get good cabinets? i had to make these and it is a pain.
