CHE
This is regarding the 5.1 Update for 3ds MAX5. MAX became unstable after installing the update. It keeps crashing when ever and for what ever. Then, the recover file is always corrupted or invalid. This is very disappointing and frustrating. Am I the only one having problems? How can I revert the update? Bad Discreet, very bad. Specs: Windows XP Pro AMD 2000+ Elsa Gloria III (Quadro 2 Pro) Maxtreme driver.
CHE
I have changed the driver and Max is working fine so far. Now I'm using Direct3D. Does Discreet has update files for each driver? I'm a little bit lost over here. Thanks
jucaro
i've been having the same problem after downloading the update. Hence, i uninstalled max and then reinstalled without the update. Too bad because, as far as i have tried, max5 sucks under XP, but doesnt crash as much under win98se. Maybe the fault lies in my too much tinkering (sans optimizing) in XP. Is there anyone out there with a sane MAX5? And by the way, MAX5 light tracer really sucks when it comes to speed. Finalrender 1.5 is much better. Max 5 always had to recompute everytime you render whereas brazil and FR has a sort of cache
Dave Buchhofer
So far its running stable here, only on 2 of the 5 workstations though. Hard working yet to come The main issue i have is that Simbiont's dont appear to be recognised in the startup. It always says that the scene is missing the *.dstc bitmaps. Same happens with *.hdr using the VrayHDRI. Haven't attempted any with the Blur free hdri plugin or the Cebas HDRmap yet, will try once i get back to work. Horrible problem however, as it prevents network rendering from functioning. Dave.
Wampa
I installed update Max 5.1 and run well. No errors or crashes.
CHE
Ummmm, for some reason I can't run Maxtreme without having MAX crashing on me. Personally I think that MAX 5 is very unstable. I can't say that it has worked without crashing at all. It used to crash on me before I installed the update, but it wasn't that bad nor that often. Is any Discreet guy out there that can help us to figure this out?
plastic
max 5 and 5.1 runs very stable here. do you use the latest nvidia driver?
abicalho
Maxtreme is not a driver provided by discreet, so if you're having problems with it you should contact the company that provides that driver. Alexander | discreet QE
CHE
So what would be the best driver to use? Where can I find it? My video card is an Elsa Gloria III (Quadro 2 Pro). Right now I'm using the NVIDIA 6.13.10.3087 display driver and Direct3D 8.1 for MAX. MAX is still unstable, just like it was before I installed the 5.1 update. Like I said it is not that bad but yet annoying. Regards.
Igor
max 5.1 runs very stable here too!!!
Greg Hess
Maxtreme currently doesn't work with Max5. Nvidia is aware of this, and a new driver is being worked on as we speak. Its always a problem with the hardware companies and the software companies don't talk to each other.
Christopher Nichols
I thought that version 4.00.26 was supposed to fix it? http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=maxtreme_4.00.
