Devin Johnston
It's hard to understand what your problem is but I think your saying that you can't use DR if your seen requires more than 12GB of ram.....correct?

Devin Johnston
To be honest I can't say exactly why DR isn't working in your situation but I believe it is probably because you’re reaching a limit to how much data Vray can realistically handle. It could also be that your network is simply to slow to be able to push 4,8, or 12 GB of data to 20 render nodes in a reasonable amount of time and therefore they simply time out. I agree that it doesn’t seem to be a memory problem so it must be an issue in the network setup. After looking as some of your scenes I'm surprised that your memory requirements are so high. My first question would be are you using proxies in your scenes, if not that could be the source of your incredibly large files. I routinely work on projects with thousands of proxies in them and I rarely use more than 4 GB of ram.

Devin Johnston
Mario I have to ask why do you need all of that detail in a rendering; I would think that most of it wouldn’t even show up. It sounds like you are modeling everything as it would be constructed, but I can tell you that even though it might be perfect for doing construction drawings from it's really over kill for a rendering. manta
Wow... Confucius Says... "Do not use a cannon to kill a mosquito." Wouldn't it take about the same amount of time to build the building in real life...

Devin Johnston
Any chance you could post one of these high rez renderings, I'd like to see what 20-30GB of detail looks like.

Devin Johnston
Mario, We're just trying to understand what you’re doing; you don't have to get defensive. Are you modeling all of this in your 3D application or is it done by others in BIM?
