Vince Paske
Has anyone deployed network rendering for Max6 yet? I don't see any "compact install" option.

Craig Ramsay
Yeah it works fine. I just did a full install on all machines... you get the tick box options after you hit the install button. These let you controll what is installed and what isn't. Craig
Vince Paske
Thanks, but still don't see it Craig. The tick boxes, at least on my install disk do not have a compact install. There's the application, which let's you choose between a stand alone license or a network license (I use a network license and don't want to install the full version on every machine for network rendering), documentation, samples, architectural materials, SDK and character studio. What gives?
abicalho
Look for Start > Discreet > Backburner 2, instead of 3dsmax. Network Rendering is managed by Backburner. Alexander
Craig Ramsay
Don't you get a tick box option that gives you the choice of what you want to install? Kind of like this:
Vince Paske
Thanks Craig. That is the tick box I get as well. It's the next step, when you click click on "install", there is no compact install option. Alexander, I understand that Backburner controls network rendering, my question was where is the option to install a " compact install " on several machines. Backburner is installed, or upgraded from Max5 automatically when you install Max6.
Craig Ramsay
Well if you just install the application without all the other stuff then that is exactly what the compact install button used to do. A compact install is just the application and nothing else
Vince Paske
Thanks for your replies, and patience Craig. I incorporate the install into a ghosting process for all the new workstations in our office, so I wanted to make sure I'm doing this right and not going to run into a licensing debacle after installing it on several machines.
