Brute Guy
Hi there, I've tried to search low and high for any literature on this, but can't seem to find anything. Essentially I am trying to animate a tv with a screen that shows a little movie I compiled in Premier Pro. In max I used to import the .avi into to a bitmap slot, but I tried this into the diffuse slot of a vraymtl but it doesn't even upload the movie? Has anybody got any info on how to get a .avi movie into max using vray? Thanks Marc
Stephen Thomas
That should be all you need to do. Could be a codec issue, though on a simpler level have you checked that your object has either 'Generate mapping coordinates' checked or a UVW map applied? BrianKitts
It's a max issue, has nothing to do with vray, checkout this previous thread.... http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/34393-problem-loading-movie-texture.html
Nic H
use a .tga image sequence, load up first frame and tick 'sequence' max will make you a ifl to play from.
Brute Guy
Thanks everyone, I did manage to import as an DV avi. but then I found out (as I was reading about DV avi) that the file size is pretty large. And the render was taking longer than I could afford to spend. I am just about to try the sequence of tga's Thanks Marc
sideshow tpc
just make it a small mpeg maybe 450 wide if ya not going too close, and put it in a vray light material so it can cast some light...I do this all the time sometimes with over 30 tv screens in a shot and always works fine
Brute Guy
Thanks for all your input on this folks, in the end I did manage to generate a sequence of tga files which worked very well. I like the idea of using the vray light map slot Craig, I shall have a look into this. Thanks Marc
