danb4026
I have been using a linear workflow for quite some time now: Under Preference I set Gamma as follows -Gamma and LUT Correction Enabled - set to 2.2 gamma -Material Editor and and Color Selectors affected -Bitmap input and output files remain at 1.0; when I add a material to the material editor I apply a 2.2 gamma to it, or use color correction to set to 2.2. When I save a file, I also save with a 2.2 Gamma. With this workflow, one is supposed to use Linear Color Mapping and set the Gamma to 2.2 aswell. This I do. The problem is, that all renderings come out washed out, even with materials previously having their gamma set to 2.2. I find myself having to change the gamma in linear color mapping down to 1.8 or less, sometimes even 1, to get a vibrant render. If I were following the Linear Workflow properly, I do not think I should have to adjust the color mapping like I am. Am I doing something wrong or have I missed something? ihabkal
I have been working linear for over a year and things were never easier. You should darken your materials not lighten them. When you set them to 2.2 you are making them brighter, you should set them to .4545
danb4026
Ihab, Then what are your settings? Should I set Gamma in preferences to 2.2, input bitmaps to 2.2 aswell and then set the linear color mapping to .4545? These settings seem to make all colors match (material editor slots, "view image" in the editor and rendered image). I have been working linear for over a year and things were never easier. ihabkal
you darken your images in photoshop using gamma .4545 or use color correction material with gamma .4545. max gamma is for display only and doesn't affect the images.
