Neil Woodhouse
Greetings, I've been asked as part of a larger project to produce a piece of sculpture and i'm trying to get my head around how to do it, but i'm struggling. I need help/pointers. Brief: The best way i can describe it this is ( and you may need a piece of A4 paper ) Take the paper and make a cone, so that the paper only overlaps on say the bottom 5th of the sheet. Now.....How do you do that in MAX?????. I've looked at the various modifiers, but i'm lost with it. Do i: Bend, twist, taper or what? This is an important project to me and i really want to get this right and impress my client. Your help would be much appreciated. Peter M. Gruhn
Hard to say because it's hard to tell just what you're after from the problem description. 01 - plane with many segments (too many actually but we'll let that slide) soft selection on the vertices and a bend modifier 02 - plane with only the one segment, one end scaled down to make a trapezoid. Then edge select and connect to fill in the middle. Then a bend. 03 - a cone. editable poly. then cut from vertex to vertex to vertex to remove the top. And a shell. 04 - The same with slice plane used on the wide end to make the corners stand a little taller. Doesn't really show here.
