NoisyMonk
Greetings, My first post here, and I've seached around, but haven't found anything similar. Basically the title says it all. I've got a High Poly version of a structure that is complete. I've taken all the usual steps (I've done this several times) to create a Low Poly version in order for the client to freely move around in. However when I export the file as a .w3d (with all settings maxed) I'm getting terrible Z-Depth fighting between objects, and also have Polygons disapearing at certain angles/distances. I've been able to reduce the severity of the problem slighty by slicing up large flat thin objects (a roof/wall/whatever that was made by extruding a spline) in a grid like fashion to reduce the surface area of each polygon. However, this raises the poly count, so I can't do this to every object. This only slightly reduces the problem though, not nearly enough to make it acceptable, as seen in the attached image. Due to obvious NDAs I can't show too much, but what you're looking at in that picture is a roof with a bunch of stuff showing through it that shouldn't be. Has anyone else come up with any solutions to this sort of problem? I can't just make these objects "thicker", cause that would look silly. I need a way to fix all this tearing/fighting/disapearing. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help. NoisyMonk.
